To all aspiring U.S. RNs, now is the ideal time to pass the NCLEX and IELTS to ensure your rightful place in the U.S.A.
What is EB-3?
For those who do not know what EB-3 is, then let us enlighten you. This plays a very important role in your U.S. process.
The United States Department of State publishes a monthly visa bulletin which lists priority dates for different immigration categories and countries of birth. The priority dates generally move forward over time. However, priority dates can actually retrogress or roll back. The priority date is the bottle neck of the immigration part of the visa process, and is subject to visa retrogression depending on the country or industry’s situation. Actually, many nurses here in the Philippines were affected by a big retrogression the last 3 to 10 years. Basically, visa retrogression is a situation where there is a delay in obtaining an immigrant visa because there are more visa applicants than the total number of visas available. Applicants would have to wait further processing of case until priority date becomes current and their visas to become available.
What’s so special now?
This time around, it’s different. The United States is projected to experience a shortage of Registered Nurses due to an aging nurse population, a small supply in their local nursing graduates, and a lack of qualified instructors. Every year, thousands of baby boomer nurses retire and new nurses are needed to replace them. The need for registered nurses is expected to grow 15% from 2016 to 2026 compared to 7% growth across all occupation and an additional 203,700 new RNs each year will be needed from 2019 through 2026 to fill newly created positions and to replace retiring nurses. – Bureau of Labor Statistics.
This explains the US allocating more and more visas for Filipino nurses, eventually leading to a current priority date for you guys soon!
How did we capitalize on this opportunity to help our nurses?
Before this really great news, we actually took steps already last November 2018 in creating the perfect program for nurses to be equipped at the highest level to become capable of achieving their US dream in no time. It’s called the USCDP or United States Candidate Development Program. It’s named appropriately because we do not only look at recruitment, but we took into heart how and what nurses would need to go through every step of the way in order to get to the U.S. and devised a program that proactively helps, aids, and effectively makes life easier for the nurses when processing with us going to the U.S.A.

PNA’s 4th Summer Conference and International Nurses Day Celebration
Nurses A Voice to Lead: Achieving Universal Healthcare For All
Last May 17, 2019, in the PNA’s 4th Summer Conference in celebration of the International Nurses Day, Universal Staffing Services Inc.’s President, Yolanda De Castro presented our company’s services and gave great emphasis in the USCDP and how timely it is to grab the opportunity with us in going to the U.S.A. It was a great privilege to be part of the event for it meant opening our doors to those aspiring nurses so they could discover the vast opportunities of working abroad, especially in the USA and the program that will work with them and be with them every step of the way all for developing them into highly qualified candidates that our employers would take care of.
With over 500 attendees, around 300 signed up in our booth for USCDP membership. This means many of the nurses share the same dream, which is to live and work in the United States. To add to this, our review center and international license processing affiliates provided Php300,000 worth of promos, discounts and prizes to the attendees who signed up and joined the raffle draw in our booth.

Reaching candidates as a newly established program was not that easy even as an established company. It underwent a lot of circumstances and sacrifices. But like everything, experience will eventually get you to where you are supposed to be. It all started with a baby steps from Live USCDP Orientations in the office in Makati, to Provincial Live USCDP Orientations, to Online USCDP Orientations and just lately being part of a big event, the USCDP is steadily growing.
Living and working in the USA may be daunting at first because of the amount of work that will be needed to get there. But with all these benefits we have for you, we think that we have already put you at a great advantage. The USA will always be popularly considered as the last stop for nurses who are keen on working abroad, and we have hundreds of nurses right now who are currently in the USA who could vouch when we say that it may really be the best option for you.
We in the Philippines may have some of the most talented and knowledgeable professionals out there, but we are still generally being outpaced by other countries with regards to compensation and salaries. Migration becomes a human need when we cannot move a system which hardly gives enough to feed our families and pay our bills. We may currently be seeing glimpses of progress here from time to time, but there is no denying that we are still a 3rd world country. Our Filipino nurses get compensated just enough, and sometimes, not even close to enough.
In contrast, Filipino Nurses in American hospitals receive an average of $6,295 or Php327, 870 in monthly wages according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Until this gap closes, we will support better compensation, treatment, and career growth for one of the professions that make a big portion of the Filipino identity, our very professional and loving Nurses.
What are you waiting for?! The U.S. will not come to you. The quickest way to get there is through the USCDP. And the perfect time for you to become a member of the USCDP program is NOW!

Given these privileges, are you still one of those Nurses who are holding back to take the chance in fulfilling your US dream? If not, then your UNIfam is willing to help and guide you in achieving your #CareerGoals in the U.S!
